Artifact one shows the unpacking of Standard K.1.1.1.- Understand the relationship between quantities and whole numbers up to 31. This was done in creating a kindergarten math lesson to correspond with this standard. This begins with breaking down the standard to fully understand and follows with, focus questions, materials, assessments and more.

Artifact 1: Understanding by Design
This artifact shows my ability to break down a standard and fully understand it. In this artifact, it shows the breakdown of the words in the standard as well as the pieces to make up the lesson. Breaking down the standard this way allows for me to better understand what skills the standards are trying to address. Understanding what the standard is addressing will also aid in the quality of lessons.

Synthesis
This tool is something I do not use as often as I should. I do think it is a valuable tool and makes the lessons much better. As a teacher, I must have understanding of the material that I am teaching to my students. This is a tool I will use when planning lessons, especially for material that I am unsure of.
