Artifact Descriptions
Artifact 1: Class Dojo Letter
The artifact I have included above shows a letter I sent home with students of my 10-week student teaching placement. This letter explains to parents that I will be starting a Class Dojo account and would like them to join. Class Dojo is an application for smartphones and tablets that is similar to Facebook. This app allows me to keep communication with parents. This letter is an example of vocabulary I use with parents. |
Artifact 2: Class Dojo App
Class Dojo is an app that I introduced to my 10-week student teaching classroom. This app served as a daily means of communication with parents. I posted pictures and sent individual messages to parents. This is similar to Facebook but is only accessible when invited by the host (myself). |
Analysis
Artifact 1: Class Dojo Letter
This artifact fits this the standard well because it shows that I have the drive to keep positive relationship with parents. The letter showcases the professional language I use with parents. Gaining a positive relationship with parents from the beginning of the year is very important, Class Dojo was a large part of my foundation for a positive relationship with parents. |
Artifact 2: Class Dojo App
Class Dojo quickly became a hit with my students' parents. This app allowed me to keep positive relationships with the parents. I would post to the app daily and parents would often "like" and comment to the pictures. This form of communication I kept with the parents allowed them to see what their child is learning at school as well as keeping them informed of upcoming activities or tests. |
Synthesis
Artifact 1: Class Dojo Letter
Parents responded very well to this letter as well as the app. I built strong relationships with parents of the class quickly. I would not change how I approached this with the parents. For this particular class, I was introduced to the parents halfway through the school year. I plan to implement this into my own classroom from the start of the year.
